Mentorship

for Teens & Young Adults

For your teen, what they want more than anything is someone who can genuinely relate to them—someone who truly gets it. They need to feel that they aren’t alone in their struggles and to believe that a better, brighter life is not only possible but within reach.

That’s where I come in. I meet your teen exactly where they are, offering real, honest support while working through their unique challenges. Together, we’ll navigate the obstacles they face and build the tools they need to grow and thrive.

As a mentor, I take on the role of an older sister figure, who is trustworthy, relatable, and encouraging —someone who’s walked the path before them and is here to guide them. I help your teen develop self-worth, confidence, and the skills they need to create success in their own way. Step by step, I support their growth into a resilient, healthy, and independent young adult.

With compassion and understanding, I’ll help them see that they’re not alone—and that they have everything it takes to move forward.

When a person feels truly understood and connected, their world begins to shift.

Your child is on the most important journey of all—the journey back home to themselves.

My philosophy is rooted in helping teens discover and nurture their own internal sense of home—a deep understanding of who they are, what matters most to them, and how to create a life that reflects their values and aligns with their true self.

Deep down, your teen already knows how to be this person. Growth isn’t about becoming someone new; it’s about uncovering who they’ve always been. It’s a process of clearing the way for their authentic, resilient self to emerge.

To help your teen build this awareness and create a strong foundation for their life, we focus on understanding, nurturing, and developing four key aspects:

 The Key Ingredients

  • My work centers on helping teens build self-awareness and understand the patterns that shape their lives. Many teens face challenges like negative self-talk, anxiety, or feeling overwhelmed by their heightened sensitivity—a trait that, while sometimes difficult, is also one of their greatest strengths. Together, we explore these patterns, make sense of their experiences, and uncover the core themes that continually influence their lives.

From there, we co-create what I call a “psychological toolkit.” This personalized set of strategies draws on metaphors, archetypes, storytelling, and creative techniques like drawing and visualization. It’s designed to help teens reframe their struggles, approach challenges with self-compassion, and navigate life with a greater sense of agency and clarity.

For example, with a teen who loved fantasy novels, we created a metaphor where she became the heroine of her own story. Daily struggles, like feeling excluded or worrying about a test, transformed into side quests or foes to overcome. By stepping into her role as the heroine, she began to see herself as someone capable of triumphing through these challenges, focusing on her approach and attitude rather than feeling overwhelmed by them.

A psychological toolkit is about building a personal framework that helps teens make sense of their struggles while connecting with their authentic selves. It’s a way for them to work through challenges and align with who they truly are in the process. This equips them to face life’s challenges with strength, clarity, and a renewed sense of courage.

  • Relationships are essential to a teen’s journey of discovering who they are. Peer connections and friendships have a profound influence on how teens develop their sense of self, yet we often underestimate their impact. Together, we help your teen cultivate an inner sense of home while navigating relationships that are healthy, reciprocal, and supportive—connections that allow them to stay true to themselves. These are the kinds of relationships that nurture growth, provide a sense of belonging, and foster confidence in who they are becoming.

For friendships, this means learning how to form connections that are mutually supportive. Within the family, it’s about cultivating open communication and trust, so they can honor their individuality while working together with you in ways that feel authentic and connected. Through these experiences, your teen begins to build a solid foundation for relationships that enrich their life and strengthen their sense of self.

  • This work is about guiding your teen to explore meaningful questions: What do I need to feel well within myself? What are my needs? By fostering this awareness, they begin to understand the unique combination of care and practices that help them feel grounded, balanced, and whole.

We work to create a gentle, supportive, and realistic routine that nurtures their mind, body, spirit, and heart. Practices like restful sleep, movement, time in nature, and self-care help them discover what supports their overall wellbeing. This process is not just about building habits—it’s about fostering a sense of balance, respect, and self-compassion that becomes the foundation for mental, emotional, and physical resilience. By tuning into their body’s needs, your teen begins to develop a deeper connection to themselves and their internal sense of home.

  • Teens who face struggles often feel defeated or discouraged about their direction in life, unsure of their value or path forward. Yet, it’s often these very teens—the rule-breakers, the rebels, the sensitive souls—who hold massive untapped gifts. Together, we’ll explore their interests and passions in ways that feel exciting and inspiring, helping them reimagine what’s possible for their future.

This journey helps them uncover what truly brings them joy and connect with the values and aspirations that matter most, creating a foundation of meaning and purpose. A clear sense of purpose becomes a powerful source of motivation and sustenance, especially during challenging times. By recognizing their unique strengths and contributions, your teen will begin to see their worth, reclaim their sense of direction, and feel empowered to share their gifts and play an important role in the world around them.

How Mentorship Works

Flexible Options to Support Your Teen

I offer two approaches to working with teens, allowing you to choose the level of support that best fits your teen’s needs:

Single Sessions: 50-minute one-on-one sessions scheduled as needed.

Customized Care Plans: For teens who would benefit from a more comprehensive and personalized approach, we can design a care plan that is responsive to their needs and tailored to their interests. (More on this below!)

Getting Started

  1. Let’s Get to Know Each Other

We begin with a complimentary consultation—a chance to connect and get to know each other. During this conversation, I’ll listen to your unique story, challenges, and hopes for your teen and your family. It’s also a chance for you to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of my approach. To request a consultation, please reach out here.

2. Begin with Single Sessions

To ensure the best long-term fit for your family, we begin with single sessions. This approach allows us to assess alignment with my expertise, evaluate the match, and identify the most suitable support plan for your teen. After gaining a clearer understanding of your family’s unique needs, we can decide whether to continue with single sessions or transition to a more comprehensive level of care. Typically, this involves 1-3 calls with your teen to determine the most effective path forward. The goal is to create a plan that is truly personalized for your family and responsive to your teen’s needs, ensuring they receive the most effective and supportive care.

3. Create a Customized Plan

After spending time getting to know your family and understanding your needs, we can decide whether to continue with single sessions or transition to a more comprehensive level of care. An enhanced level of support may include a combination of the following:

  • More Frequent Sessions: Increasing the frequency of sessions to provide consistent support.

  • Ongoing Support Between Sessions: Your child will have 7-day-a-week access via text or phone call. This ensures they have a trusted resource to turn to when facing immediate challenges, emotional crises, or when needing guidance or reassurance. Additionally, regular communication between sessions allows for continuous connection and deepens the trust.

  • Interest-Based Support: As I get to know your child, we can create support that is responsive to their interests and what lights them up. For example, one teen really enjoys writing, and we have dedicated time to editing and developing a book she is working on, tying this creative process to her therapeutic journey.

  • Parent Calls: Scheduled check-ins with parents to provide updates, share insights, and collaborate on strategies, ensuring alignment and fostering a strong partnership in supporting your child’s growth.

  • Collaborative Care Coordination: Regularly coordinate with other professionals on your child’s care team to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive approach to their support.

  • In-Person Experiences and Activities: Build trust and connection through meaningful, shared experiences such as engaging in activities together, exploring interests, and home visits. These moments create a stronger bond, offering valuable insights into your teen’s world while fostering growth and connection in a comfortable, supportive environment.

Month-to-Month Care Plans

Care plans are structured month to month, meaning we commit to a plan for one month at a time. This flexible approach allows us to adjust the level of support as your teen’s needs evolve, ensuring their care remains relevant and personalized at every stage.

A Flexible and Ongoing Resource

My goal is to remain part of your teen’s ecosystem for as long as it’s supportive for them. Sometimes, a higher level of care is exactly what’s needed, and when that’s no longer the case, we’ll scale back thoughtfully to match their evolving needs.

For example, some teens transition from intensive support to weekly sessions, and eventually, we meet just once a month. Care plans are designed to be flexible, planned month-to-month, and regularly adjusted based on what feels most supportive. Once teens find a steadier place in life, I can continue as a resource, meeting on a single-session cadence that makes sense. Even years later, many teens I’ve worked with still reach out for a session when they need guidance or support during a challenging moment.

This adaptability ensures your teen receives the right level of care at the right time and always knows they have someone to turn to when it matters most.
