The Grove:

In-Person Support Group for Teen Girls

Healing happens in community.

Community is a pillar of health for young women, especially when they are navigating challenges and transitions. In this program, your daughter will connect with a group of like-minded, relatable, and supportive peers who get what she is going through, and want to grow with her.

We’ll cover everything from the science of nervous system regulation, to the qualities of a healthy friendship. She’ll learn skills for emotional intelligence, effective communication, and self-confidence.

As a closed group, we will be together for the entire duration of this 6 week program. That means that together, we build a safe, nurturing, and supportive space where participants are safe to be open and vulnerable.

The Details:

  • We limit the group to 10 students to ensure personalized attention, and meaningful interactions.

  • This group meets in-person in Denver, Colorado.

  • This program runs from October 15th, 2024 to November 19th, 2024.

  • The program tuition is $500.

We will gather in this private location in Denver, Colorado, to create a safe and supportive container that fosters connection, reflection, and growth.

The life lessons she needs for adulthood

Most teens learn algebra and how to craft a thesis statement, but they often miss out on essential lessons like emotional resilience, self-worth, and processing their feelings. To grow into a well-rounded, healthy, and confident adult, your daughter needs these lessons as part of her toolkit.

Your daughter is at a pivotal moment — standing at the threshold of adulthood, beginning to explore the world, shape her identity, and define her path in life. She’s ready to embrace these lessons and step confidently into her next stage, equipped with the emotional, relational, and personal skills necessary to thrive.

This is for your daughter, if…

  • She would thrive in a community of like-minded, relatable, and supportive peers who understand her struggles and are eager to grow alongside her.

  • She may struggle with low self-esteem, and you want her to recognize her unique gifts, embrace herself fully, and feel confident in who she is.

  • She needs practical tools for managing stress and coping with big emotions so she can take excellent care of herself.

  • She has many talents to share with the world but may struggle with follow-through or deciding where to focus her energy. You’d love to see her inspired, passionate, and motivated.

  • She’s sensitive and often overwhelmed by her emotions, but you know this sensitivity is a gift once she learns to manage it in a healthy way.

Meet the Guides

Once a "troubled teen" myself, I’ve dedicated my life to supporting struggling adolescents and their families. During my teen years, I went through various treatment interventions, including therapy, medication, inpatient hospitalization, wilderness therapy, and therapeutic boarding school. Recognizing the need for support from those who have walked this path, I founded Homing Instinct to create the kind of support system that would have been transformative for me in my own journey to adulthood.

As a mentor, I am like a wise, trusted older sister, who deeply understands the adolescent psyche, and the challenges of growing up while navigating mental health issues. I am devoted to transforming how we think about adolescence, and how we learn from, connect with, and guide our teenagers.

Ciara Fanlo

As a teen, I spent most of my time in a hyper productive haze, running on dreams of escapism. I encountered severe traumas that I didn’t have the understanding or support to talk about. I figured college could help me find the words or at least be my ticket out. But even when I got what I thought I wanted, did everything “right”, things still always felt off.

Running from the dread brought deep depression and suicidality, relationships I lost myself in, and betrayal of self. I felt hollow and controlled outside of me, like a marionette pulled by strings with the expectation to perform. I would intellectualize until I couldn’t feel anymore. No sharp pains, sure - but numb also to joy, wonder, and hope.

I didn’t have the courage to listen to what my heart needed for a very long time. I didn’t want to tune into the dread and hollowness, to sit in the echoes of unheard pain. But slowly, eventually, I allowed myself to borrow faith from others. People who believed in me so much that I started to believe in myself too.

I am incredibly fortunate to now help do the same for others. I am currently a Masters of Social Work candidate and a HRSA Grant recipient. I have worked in an adolescent inpatient eating disorder clinic, provided addiction counseling and psychotherapy in both residential and outpatient capacities, and been a young adult mentor in an outdoor recreation program. I am trained in crisis intervention and intercultural communication, and I prefer blending cognitive and somatic approaches like DBT, IFS, and mindfulness.

My goal is to support you in slowing down, to tend to the parts that feel stuck with curiosity and compassion, and learn how to read that roadmap back to yourself.

We beautiful, messy humans need each other.

And I would be honored to lend my belief in you.
